In the following we will propose a reading of the problems that Derrida raises about philosophy and, especially, about phenomenology as metaphysics of presence. We analyze the notion of 'presence', which can only be justified as a fictitious act of expression in terms of 'unity' and 'identity', terms that this notion addresses to itself. Unity, however, is inherent in the concept of consciousness and finds its complexion in the original function of perceiving consciousness in internal or immanent intuition, according to Husserl, giving the irreducibility and originality of the cogito. We will first analyze the categories of 'unity' and 'identity' from Heidegger's approach and, later, we will dedicate the analysis to the phenomenological concept of consciousness to show how metaphysics continues presence. And, finally, it will be necessary to allude to the Husserlian conception of language in which Derrida situates himself in order to develop his critique of the phenomenology of 'subjectivity', analytically penetrating the concept of 'inner discourse' which, it will be seen, entirely depends on that.
