Industry and mining sectors use large engines

driven by variable speed drives, which greatest fault rate is

presented in multilevel inverter stage. This article shows

operating strategies in tolerance to faults multilevel inverters,

focusing on the reconfiguration of the modulation of trigger

signals, in order to ensure continuity of service without affecting

the operation of the motor.

We present the strategy for NPC (Neutral Point Clamped)

multilevel inverters of three levels and CHB (Cascaded H Bridge)

of seven levels, simulating its action on an electric mining system,

modeled in PSCAD / EMTDC software.
