A Novel Power Quality Index Using Discrete Wavelet Transform

In this work a general index of power quality (PQ) is proposed based on the simulation of some of the phenomena that affect the power quality. Using wavelet transform and calculating the energy coefficients to obtain a characteristic pattern of each signal to calculate the PQ index. The proposed PQ index was compared with typical measurements phenomena under study.
