Performance of True-48-Pulse DSTATCOM for Voltage Sag Mitigation

This paper presents the implementation and performance of three-phase Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM) used for voltage sag mitigation. The DSTATCOM is based on a voltage source SPWM inverter with a true-48-pulse circuit-level. For simula-tions, IEEE-34 bus test feeder is chosen due to its topological features and wide variety of components. Simulations using ATP/EMTP software describe the DSTATCOM design process and provide experimental results. In addition, the performance of DSTATCOM in several cases is analyzed, showing that this device is a good alternative for power quality improvement in distribution systems.
