Database Modeling for Studies in Power Distribution Systems

In most power system analysis studies, databases are stored in IEEE common data format. Although convenient for data exchange between different softwares, this format is not easy to manage in studies of large systems if a user-friendly interface is not available. It also experiences difficulties in recovering data in long-term studies of system performance and power quality. In this paper, a database structure based on tables is proposed. The proposed database is written in Microsoft Office Access and managed through structured query language using MATLAB. The developed database is useful for storing the elements of a power distribution system for power flow and harmonic studies, as well as for providing data for long-term studies and reports.
