This paper evaluates the way in which the atmospheric electrical activity has increased in an oil field. The increase in the lightning activity is approximately 43% when oil field is compared with surroundings areas. To determine the variation of the lightning activity, the lightning location system was used LINET lightning localization system . This increase is attributed to the possible enhancement of the temperature in the zone, as well as to the emission of particulate material which generates an increase in the amount of aerosols affecting probably the microphysics of the clouds.
