Most of the studies found in the literature present mathematical models of power as a function of voltage, without taking into account the distortion of this signal or the effects that those disturbances may have on the power consumption of nonlinear loads. In this paper the behavior of typical loads in residential low voltage systems is analized: a CFL type lamp, a LED type lamp and a 29 inch LCD TV. The study focuses on the analysis of the power consumption and the behavior of the parameters of the ZIP and Exponential models of the same when subjected to variations of amplitude, phase angle and distortion of the voltage supply signal.
Initially, the test scenarios are defined in the laboratory in order to make a comparison of power consumption under conditions of voltage distortion, where the sinusoidal voltage signal is set as a reference. Subsequently, a procedure is established for carrying out the tests in the laboratory. Finally, the data acquired during the monitoring of the test scenarios is analized in order to quantify the effects on the behavior of the power in the loads due to the variations of the voltage supply signal. The powers consumed by the loads prove to be greater when fed with distorted voltages and the parameters of the ZIP and exponential models vary in these perturbations.
