In this paper it is presented a method to manage shunt power capacitor bank based on Colombian resolution CREG 15-2018. The method presented is supported by a life model that estimates lifetime of single capacitors under voltage and harmonic distortion. Lifetime estimation is the starting point to determine health index and predictive indexes as failure rate and probability of failure, which is used to evaluate risk and estimate economical losses along shunt bank’s life.
