Antecedentes: la tuberculosis pulmonar permanece en el escenario epidemiológico y constituye uno de los principales desafíos de la salud pública. Aunque desde hace varios años las aplicaciones móviles en salud se han utilizado como estrategia de intervención para el control de diferentes enfermedades, existen pocos estudios sobre la efectividad de estas intervenciones en el mundo y, particularmente,
en Colombia.

Objetivo: determinar el efecto de una aplicación móvil en los conocimientos sobre la enfermedad de las personas en tratamiento para tuberculosis pulmonar sensible.

Método: Estudio piloto con diseño pretest-postest y grupos no aleatorizados, en el que participaron 28 pacientes. El grupo control
recibió el tratamiento estandarizado del programa de tuberculosis y el grupo experimental, adicionalmente, utilizó la aplicación móvil CuidarT-Bien UN. Los conocimientos de los participantes se midieron
mediante el “Instrumento validado de Medición de Conocimientos, Actitudes y Prácticas en Personas con Diagnóstico de Tuberculosis”, antes y después de la intervención.

Resultados: en la evaluación postintervención se observaron cambios positivos en el grupo experimental respecto al grupo control en dimensiones específicas del conocimiento, particularmente en los ítems relacionados con factores de riesgo (p = 0.0008), toma de baciloscopia (p = 0.0261), tratamiento (p = 0.0155) y medidas de control en el hogar (p = 0.0335).

Conclusiones: la aplicación móvil CuidarT-Bien UN se posiciona como una herramienta prometedora para fortalecer los conocimientos en salud de los pacientes con tuberculosis pulmonar en el marco del tratamiento convencional.

Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis is one of the main public health challenges. Mobile health applications have been used as an intervention strategy in the control of different diseases. However, few studies related to the effectiveness of interventions with mobile applications have been conducted. In the Colombian case, there are no mobile applications on tuberculosis. 

Objective: To determine the effect of a mobile application on disease knowledge among people undergoing treatment for drug-sensitive pulmonary tuberculosis. 

Method: Pilot study with a pretest–posttest design with non-randomized groups; 28 patients participated. The control group received the standardized tuberculosis
program treatment, while the experimental group additionally used the mobile application "CuidarT-Bien UN". Participants' knowledge was measured using the "Validated Instrument for the Measurement of Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices in People Diagnosed with Tuberculosis" before and after the intervention.

Results: In the post-intervention evaluation, positive changes were observed in the experimental group compared to the control group in specific knowledge dimensions,
particularly in items related to risk factors (p = 0.0008), sputum smear collection (p = 0.0261), treatment (p = 0.0155), and household control measures (p = 0.0335). 

Conclusions: The results suggest that the mobile application "CuidarT-Bien UN" may be a promising tool to improve health knowledge among pulmonary tuberculosis patients within the framework of conventional treatment.

Contexto: a tuberculose pulmonar é um dos principais desafios da saúde pública. Aplicativos móveis de saúde têm sido utilizados como estratégia de intervenção para o controle de diferentes doenças. No entanto, foram realizados poucos estudos sobre a eficácia das intervenções com aplicativos móveis. No caso colombiano, não existem aplicativos móveis sobre a tuberculose.

Objetivo: Determinar o efeito de um aplicativo móvel no conhecimento sobre a doença em pessoas em tratamento para tuberculose pulmonar sensível.

Método: Estudo piloto com delineamento pré-teste–pós-teste com grupos não randomizados; contou com a participação de 28 pacientes. O grupo controle recebeu o tratamento padronizado do programa de tuberculose e o grupo experimental utilizou, adicionalmente, o aplicativo móvel "CuidarT-Bien UN". O conhecimento dos participantes foi mensurado com o "Instrumento Validado de Mensuração de Conhecimentos, Atitudes e Práticas em Pessoas com Diagnóstico de Tuberculose" antes e após a intervenção. 

Resultados: Na avaliação pós-intervenção, foram observadas mudanças positivas no grupo experimental em comparação ao grupo controle em dimensões específicas do conhecimento, particularmente nos itens relacionados a fatores de risco (p = 0,0008), coleta de baciloscopia (p = 0,0261), tratamento (p = 0,0155) e medidas de controle domiciliar (p = 0,0335).

Conclusões: O aplicativo móvel "CuidarT-Bien UN" se posiciona como uma ferramenta
promissora para fortalecer o conhecimento em saúde dos pacientes com tuberculose pulmonar no âmbito do tratamento convencional.
