La obra de Moore, ya convertida en un clásico, estudia el papel de las relaciones sociales agrarias y las coaliciones de las clases agrarias y el estado en la determinación de una variedad de resultados políticos, ya sea democráticos o totalitarios, a medida que varias sociedades pasaron del mundo.
