The objective of a reproductive program is to produce a máximum number of healthy offspring annually. Thus, the improvement ofthe reproductive efficiency of a farm becomes essential. The high variation of the mare’s follicular phase makes the synchronisation ofthis species estrous eyele a challenge. As a consequence, in the last four decades there have been multiple studies for the artificial control of the ovarían function with commercial hormones. This article makes a revision of these works, describing pharmacologic methods and allowing the veterinarian to establish the treatments that can fit better a specific situation.
