The question of this essay is: how does the analytic philosopher Moore prove the existence of the external world? It is subdivided into three parts: 1. Preliminary clarifications 2. Structure of the proof and 3. Why Moore's proof cannot be considered conclusive? The preliminaries clarify the meaning of expressions such as “things external to us” and others that make the structure of Moore's proof understandable. The third point clarifies the sense in which “proof of the external world” is understood, in what sense the existence of the external world cannot be proved, and in what sense the existence of the external world can be taken for certain.
