Free will and libertas in Saint Augustine

Este artículo ofrece una visión global de la teoría agustiniana del libre albedrío y la libertas, en la que se hará explícita la importancia de las disputas de Agustín frente a maniqueos y pelagianos, para luego mostrar la arquitectura general de la teoría -el libre albedrío como espontaneidad de la libertad y la libertas como expresión de la libertad real- y sus relaciones, finalizando con una corta comparación de los planteamientos agustinianos con tesis similares de la modernidad.

This article offers a global vision of the agustinian freedom theory —free will and libertas— in which the importance of the debates between Augustine, the pelagians and maniqueans, will be explained; then, the theory's general structure -the free will expressed as spontaneity of the voluntas, and the libertas principle as expression of the real freedom- will be exposed. Finally, the augustinian thesis will be contrasted with it«s similars in the modernity.
