Historical Review

The journal Trabajo Social is published by the Department of Social Work of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá. It was founded in 1995 by Juanita Barreto, Gloria E. Leal, Yolanda López, María Himelda Ramírez and Edgar Malagón, who formulated the journal project with the purpose of contributing to the dissemination of the results of research carried out by the faculty of the department and other academic units of social work, academic events of interest and bibliographic news. 

The journal has been directed by:

- Juanita Barreto (1996) first issue dedicated to the family.

-María Himelda Ramírez (2000-2004) second to sixth issues.

-María Himelda Ramírez and Leonor Perilla Lozano (2005) seventh issue.

-Gloria E. Leal (2006-2018) from number 8 to 20.

-Olga Vásquez (2018-2019) edition of vol. 21.

-Luz Alexandra Garzón O. (2019 - 2022)

-Maira Judith Contreras Santos (2023-)

These last years the journal renewed its format and strengthened the calls for papers, indexing and internationalization in a particular way in different topics related to current affairs and the discipline of Social Work.

For these last issues, the director-editor together with the Publications Committee have invited as guest editors different colleagues who are experts in the topics mentioned above.
