This work focuses on an economic alternative for developing a data acquisition system which monitors a threephase power intalation. This experimental system is made up of an Intel StrongARM SA-1110 32-bit RISC microcontroller, a 16-Mbyte FLASH memory chip, a 32-MByte SDRAM chip, a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN controller with 10BASE-T, as well as other hardware elements. The system has an embedded Linux operating system (kernel version 2.4), and a thttpd embedded web server. A CGI program was designed in order to enable the sampling, processing and transmition of information received from the three-phase power installation. To achieve this, a HTTP protocol was used in order to send all this information to a group of clients connected to a conventional PC network.
