This paper presents a technical and economic comparation between two types of ballasts, widely incorporated in used sodium lights of high pressure in public lighting system. The comparison is with base in two developed models, one for the lights that uses ballast CWA (Constant Wattage Autotransformer) and another one for the lights that uses the ballast Reactor. These models were simulated in a typical and exclusive circuit of public lighting system, whose results were analyzed from technical and economic aspects.
