Mimosa pudica and Alpinia officinarum are largely used in different countries to treat infectious diseases as well as digestive disorders and inflammatory conditions. Despite their long history of traditional use, the pharmacological properties of both plants are poorly described, including their antimicrobial potential. This study investigated the effectiveness of the ethanolic extracts of M. pudica and A. officinarum against bacterial clinical isolates. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) tests and assessed their anti-inflammatory potential and cytotoxicity in vitro. Qualitative methods were used, and ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS/MS) to investigate the phytochemical properties of the extracts. M. pudica and A. officinarum were active against the clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa at 8 µg/mL, and both displayed anti-inflammatory properties. UHPLC-HRMS/MS analysis indicated a total of 24 phytocompounds in M. pudica extract and seven in A. officinarum. Only M. pudica presented an acceptable cytotoxicity index for further studies on the antimicrobial potential of chromatographic fractions and isolated phytomolecules. In addition, the data supports research on the safety of A. officinarum in the context of traditional medicine.
