The An-Archic Foundation of Politics in Hannah Arendt

Este artículo valora el juego de influencias desde el cual la reflexión política de Hannah Arendt adquiere una impronta an-árquica y post-fundacionalista en el sentido en que Schürmann y Marchart definen estos términos. Para ello, se plantea que no solamente la indudable huella heideggeriana sobre Arendt sino también la experiencia judía de la autora y su correlativa crítica a la “nación” y al nacionalismo, permiten entender la formación de los conceptos centrales de su obra. El postulado central es que el sentido general de esta puede entenderse como un intento sistemático de comprender la política al margen de fundamentos o principios ordenadores últimos. En este sentido, se ponderan las improntas que el trasfondo hermenéutico-fenomenológico, la condición judía y la experiencia de los totalitarismos dejaron en el pensamiento arendtiano y en el modo en que la pensadora alemana despliega su consideración de las cuestiones que ella define como políticas.

The article evaluates the interplay of influences through which Hannah Arendt’s political thought acquires an anarchic and post-foundational imprint, in the sense defined by Schürmann and Marchart. To this end, it is argued that not only the undeniable Heideggerian legacy in Arendt’s work, but also her Jewish experience and the corresponding critique of the "nation" and nationalism, are key to understanding the formation of the central concepts of her thought. The central thesis is that the general orientation of Arendt’s work can be interpreted as a systematic attempt to understand politics outside the framework of ultimate foundations or ordering principles. In this regard, the article assesses the impact that the hermeneutic-phenomenological background, Arendt’s Jewish condition, and the experience of totalitarianism had on her thinking and on the way in which the German philosopher articulates her understanding of issues she defines as political.
