The present work describes the basics mechanisms of deformation and fracture, obtained by the impact of various projectiles on steel plates subjected to different cycles of heat treatment. Each one of the craters was evaluated by means of visual and metallography testing. In the craters was evaluated the morphology of twinning, slip, adiabatic shear bands, scabbing and cracking.
