El artículo busca dar una caracterización a los grupos de investigación de la Facultad de Ingeniería. Para lograrlo, primero se presentan definiciones en diferentes temas relacionados con grupos de investigación, para posteriormente realizar la comparación entre la teoría, establecida a través de las definiciones, con la realidad de los grupos de la Facultad y así determinar qué tan distantes se encuentran la una de la otra. Por último, se realizó un modelo de comportamiento de los grupos basado en las características presentadas por éstos.
