Con el propósito de aprovechar la información estadística que, sobre accidentes de tránsito, permanentemente viene recopilando la División de Programación Global del Intra y dentro del Contrato de Asesoría No. 35 Intra y No.193 Universidad Nacional, el Programa de Investigaciones del Transporte, PIT, elaboro el análisis de los accidentes ocurridos en vías rurales dentro del departamento de Cundinamarca en el periodo 1977-1981.
