CARACTERÍSTICAS BIOLÓGICAS

La infección natural por herpesvirus ocurre en una gran variedad de especies animales, incluyendo los primates no humanos, el caballo, la vaca, la oveja, el perro, el gato, aves y vertebrados inferiores (5). El Herpesvirus Canino (HVC) es un herpes específico de esta especie, que se presenta generalmente en forma de infección inaperente en perros jóvenes y adultos, pero que también puede causar enfermedad severa en cachorros recién nacidos.

 

COMPARACIÓN CON LA ENFERMEDAD EN HUMANOS

El Herpes Simplex tipo 2 (HSV2), o también llamado herpes genital, es un virus que ocurre en forma natural en los humanos y está asociado con una variedad de patrones de enfermedad entre los cuales se incluye la infección localizada del tracto genital y la infección generalizada de los niños recién nacidos (8, 12).
