Emmanuel Lévinas did not strictly formulate an educational theory, but his research in the phenomenological field has nourished educational debates on the relationship woven in the teacher-learner encounter. In Totality and Infinity. Essay on exteriority he dealt with the concept of “Teaching” relating it to two issues: the welcoming of the other and learning from the height that this other has. This concept is reviewed in the first part of this article as a route to the second part, which will reflect on the implications of an education centered on responsibility and the abandonment of an ontological subject.
