Towards a systemic parameterisation of the environmental dimension

Information, particularly environmental information, constitutes a valuable asset which is fundamental in formulating, implementing and controlling environmental policy and management aimed at environmental sustainability. The systemic parameterisation of the so-called "environmental dimension" will lead to having enough, top-quality environmental information which has been duly collected, processed and prepared for developing any anthropic activity. The present article synthesizes the results of a research project entitled, "A Systemic Parameterisation of the Environmental Dimension- Phase I," carried out by the Policy, Information and Environmental Management (PIGA) research group; its main objective consisted of producing and proposing a theoretical basis and conceptual and methodological framework for developing such parameterisation.
El presente artículo constituye una síntesis del resultado y producto final de la fase I del proyecto de investigación "Parametrización sistémica de la dimensión ambiental", cuyo objetivo fundamental consistió en generar y plantear los fundamentos teóricos, así como el marco conceptual y metodológico, para el desarrollo de la propuesta. El proceso de parametrización sistémica permitirá contar con información ambiental suficiente y de calidad, debidamente recolectada, organizada, agregada, sistematizada, almacenada y dispuesta para el desarrollo de cualquier actividad antrópica. Será fundamental en la formulación, seguimiento y evaluación de políticas, planes, programas y proyectos en el desarrollo de procesos productivos sostenibles, en el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de la población y, particularmente, en la gestión del desarrollo sostenible.
