We have chosen an assay by Carlos Sanclemente (its former student and professor) to illustrate the 150th anniversary of the Universidad Nacional's Faculty of Engineering as part of our coverage of the historiography of Colombian engineering. He presented it as an academic in March 2005 when becoming eligible for membership of the School of History of Engineering and Public Work. We remember his words as a fortunate synthesis of the evolution of Colombian engineering. His dissertation included a description of the following items: the Spanish inheritance, technological awakening, railway initiatives, the diversification of transport, integral development, the institutions so involved and their pioneers.
Al recorrer la historiografía de la ingeniería colombiana, para ilustrar las efemérides del sesquicentenario de la Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad Nacional, hemos escogido un ensayo de Carlos Sanclemente, su antiguo alumno y profesor, quien en su condición actual de académico lo expuso en marzo del 2005 para acceder a la Academia de Historia de la Ingeniería y de las Obras Públicas. Recordemos esas palabras suyas, como una afortunada síntesis del devenir de la ingeniería colombiana. Esta disertación realiza una descripción de los siguientes ítems: la herencia española, el despertar tecnológico, las iniciativas ferroviarias, la diversificación del transporte, el desarrollo integral, las instituciones y sus pioneros.
