Some say that yesterday's news is today's history, others that it has now reached its end, whereas the more prudent find it advisable to examine it when its protagonists have already disappeared, to avoid controversy and making it becoming more intensified. There is also a boundary between what is historic and what is understood by policy, this now being prohibited by analysing topics in the so-called rearview mirror. Without greater analysis, almost by memory, sufficiently well-known facts are simply mentioned from independence, the end (in Colombia) of the prolonged middle ages, the traumatic entry to the contemporary era at the gates of the 20th century and the beginning of the new millennium in the midst of amazing advances in science and technology, along with some seen as a return to the caveman era. Mentions of dates and real names have been omitted from the main body of the text and placed in footnotes so that young people can review such history more easily. This article describes the following items: leaving the middle ages, towards modernity, regeneration and catastrophe, Republican peace, new convulsions, the subversive plague, narcotic peace and the Colombian miracle.
Dicen unos que la noticia de ayer es hoy historia, otros que ya ésta ha llegado a su fin; y los prudentes, que para evitar polémicas y de pronto su recrudecimiento, conviene examinarla cuando hayan desaparecido sus protagonistas. Tampoco existe un lindero entre lo histórico y lo que se entiende por política, prohibido por lo que ahora llaman el espejo retrovisor. Sin mayor análisis, casi de memoria, es la sola mención de hechos suficientemente conocidos, desde la Independencia, final aquí de la prolongada Edad Media, el traumático ingreso a la Edad Contemporánea, a las puertas del siglo XX; y empezando el nuevo milenio, en medio de pasmosas ciencia y tecnología, con algunos como de regreso a la caverna. Se omiten fechas y también la mención de nombres propios, que pasan a notas de pie para que los jóvenes repasen la historia. Este artículo realiza una descripción de los siguientes ítems: saliendo de la Edad Media, hacia la modernidad, Regeneración y catástrofe, paz republicana, nuevas convulsiones, la peste subversiva, una paz narcotizada y el milagro colombiano.
