in Argentina, involving apricot stone, grape stalk and eucaliptus wood, are presented. The experimental program
included two main stages, the preparation of activated carbons and the test to obtain adsorption isotherms of each
trihalomethane. The isotherms for each adsorbate-
adsorbent system were appropriately correlated by the Freundlich equation, and the corresponding parameters were
determined. The influence ofthe type of trihalomethane, the raw material to prepare activated carbon, the temperature
and initial concentration of trihalomethane, on the adsorption capacities of the activated carbons, was evaluated. The
results showed that the type of raw material employed to prepare activated carbons influences markedly its adsorption
capacity, which can not be only explained from their surface area values. On the opposite, the adsorbent capacity
of the activated carbons is slightly influenced by the temperature of the adsorption test.
