Seis años han transcurrido desde que el “Haloxon” fuera descrito por primera vez (1) y desde entonces se ha convertido en un útil y versátil antihelmíntico contra los nemátodos en los rumiantes. El propósito de este artículo es hacer un resumen de la efectividad y seguridad de su uso en el ganado vacuno y ovino, y hacer notar la extensión de su empleo en cerdos, caballos y ciertas clases de aves.
El “Haloxon” es un polvo blanco, casi sin sabor ni olor, lo cual permite su fácil ingestión por los animales cuando se mezcla con la comida. Es altamente efectivo contra los diferentes géneros de nemátodos y, como es de esperar de un moderno antihelmíntico, también tiene efectos considerables sobre los estados inmaduros de los parásitos (2-3).References
