Estudios bacteriológicos y experimentales de un germen aislado en una epidemia de Bartonellosis en el departamento de Nariño (Colombia) (1)

En atención a que la epidemia de Bartonellosis, diagnosticada como tal por el profesor Luis Patiño Camargo, revestía caracteres que afectaban seriamente una parte de la población de algunas regiones del Departamento de Nariño, deseoso el Instituto Nacional de Higiene Samper & Martinez de intervenir en su estudio, gestiono ante el Ministerio de trabajo, Higiene y Previsión Social, el envío del doctor Juan Antonio Montoya, médico jefe de la Sección de Epidemiologia de dicha institución, a integrar la comisión que había salido a hacer estudios en el mencionado Departamento en el mes de septiembre de 1939.
EI material estudiado fue conseguido, una parte por la citada comisión, en septiembre de 1939, y la otra enviada por el doctor Raúl Jaramillo, Director del Hospital de la Unión (Nariño) en noviembre del mismo año.
