La diversidad y riqueza de la cultura chocoana se evidencia en la gran variedad de sus elementos representativos como las chirimías, por ejemplo. Este artículo muestra el papel de las fiestas en honor a San Francisco de Asís, donde se promueven y construyen organizaciones comunitarias, y se reflejan procesos de solidaridad, responsabilidad y resistencia. Estos fortalecen la identidad cultural, en el marco de las problemáticas que enfrenta la población del Chocó.
The diversity and richness of the culture from Chocó is evident in its wide variety of representative elements as chirimías (‘bagpipes’). This article shows the role of festivities in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, in which community organizations are promoted and built, and processes of solidarity, responsibility and resistance are reflected. These strengthen the cultural identity in the context of the problems faced by the inhabitants of Chocó
