The construction of order in the passing from Ancient regime to republic. Social networks and political imaginary from Nuevo Reino de Granada to grand-colombian space. The Revolutions of lndependence destabilised the grand-colombian countries by eliminating the former transcendent order symbolised by the king. This programmatic article attempts to describe how, in spite of difficulties, these societies managed to build a liberal order based upon an immanent social contract. By rejecting the traditional and pessimistic considerations about Colombia, perceived as an anarchical, fragmented and ungovernable nation, it deals with the impact of the revolutionary mutations on social' networks. While the holist structure of the community progressively faded away, the informal links between individuals and groups became the matrix of a new although precarious republican stability. This works tries to throw light on the typology of these bonds. and to determine the symbolic and real goods that passed through them, structuring patron-client relationships and friendship networks.
