La cronicidad y el cuidado familiar, un problema de todas las edades: los cuidadores de ancianos

Este artículo es una revisión elaborada por la autora que permite hacer un análisis reflexivo frente al cuidado de los ancianos afectados por una enfermedad crónica. Hace planteamientos para mostrar la necesidad y la importancia de preparar a los cuidadores familiares que ejercen estas funciones con ancianos enfermos. Muestra cómo el cuidado del anciano afectado por una enfermedad crónica amerita contar con un tiempo disponible y con un acompañamiento permanente con el propósito de favorecer la calidad de vida del paciente y la de su cuidador familiar. Además, permite conocer la importancia del apoyo que los cuidadores necesitan para lograr cualificar el cuidado que los ancianos requieren, con el objetivo de brindarles una mayor calidad de vida en la etapa final de la vida.
