As part of the planning of the Nursing Ph.D. Program in Colombia, the Nursing School of the UCSF
granted some Scholarships for Colombian Nurses. The nurses who were granted these Scholarships
had a clear purpose: to learn from the American Doctors and their long experience in the field of
research and planning and to share our research experience in different areas and to develop joint
cooperative projects.
As members of this group of nurses we make a description of our common working experiences.
We show how we established academic links with the American Doctors in concrete spheres of our
nursing activity as Care and Child Mistreatment; how rich and fruitful it was to live together with
nurses from different countries and cultures.
It is important to point out how we could get different and varied achievements in wealfare
research, teaching and planning.
