The relationship between emotional intelligence, transformational leadership, and job satisfaction has been the focus of increasing scholarly interest in recent years, often centered on the leader-follower dynamic and yielding occasionally contradictory findings. This study aims to determine the extent to which the emotional intelligence of business executives in Colombia influences their transformational leadership style and their job satisfaction. The research involved a sample of 288 business leaders in Colombia, who completed the Meta Mood Scale (tmms -24) developed by Mayer and Salovey to assess emotional intelligence, and the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (mql) by Avolio and Bass to measure transformational leadership. Participants also responded to questions assessing their job satisfaction. To test the hypotheses, structural equation modeling using the partial least squares approach (pls-sem) was employed. Results indicate that a leader’s emotional intelligence has a positive and significant impact on their level of transformational leadership, and that transformational leadership, in turn, significantly influences the leader’s own job satisfaction. Additionally, the study found no significant differences in these relationships based on gender or tenure in the leadership role.
