La Asociación Colombiana de Facultades de Ingeniería, ACOFI fue constituida hace 16 años para que aglutinara y encausara los esfuerzos y los recursos de las facultades de ingeniería, con el objeto de propiciar el progreso permanente de la educación de ingenieros en el país. En este artículo se describen los antecedentes que condujeron a la creación de ACOFI, su organización administrativa, sus principales actividades y su plan de desarrollo. También se mencionan los orígenes, alcances y logros del Programa de Mejoramiento de la Calidad Educativa en Ingeniería y las perspectivas de la Asociación.
