Aquí se presenta el primero de una serie de trabajos encaminados a ilustrar las características y potencialidades de la simulación matemática de un segmento de proceso químico en estado estable, aplicada en microcomputadores digitales, con miras al análisis y diseño de procesos. La serie consiste en: formular un problema de estructura básica, para resolverlo a la luz de las técnicas modular secuencial y modular simultanea; analizar los efectos de aceleración de convergencia y de inicialización de los procesos de cálculo numérico iterativo; y analizar el comportamiento de las variables de operación del segmento.
