El presente trabajo hace parte de la publicación SIMULACION DE PROCESOS QUIMICOS EN ESTADO ESTABLE, presentada por el autor en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia en 1990. Aquí se recoge de manera sintética la elaboración conceptual lograda alrededor del tema, en particular de las entidades modelamiento y simulación matemática de operaciones y procesos químicos; la evolución que esta disciplina ha tenido en los diferentes ambientes; los enfoques de cada desarrollo; y las estructuras básicas de simuladores modulares secuenciales.
