Este artículo se inicia con una descripción sobre medios de comunicación y la transmisión de imágenes, con sus implicaciones en los sistemas y redes de comunicación. Antes de reseñar la economía de servicios, se tratan los mercados de conocimientos; lo anterior sirve de preludio para entrar en las redes sociales vivas de conocimiento. Como puntos técnicos centrales del artículo se describen brevemente dos conceptos. El primero es el de sistemas expertos y el segundo es el de hiperinformación. Finalmente se concluye que dentro de la cultura institucional, es recurso estratégico el conocimiento, cuyos contenidos deben ser difundidos mediante la aplicación de la hiperinformación.
