Guidelines for reviewers

In order to guarantee the quality, reliability, and integrity of the evaluation, the Revista Colombiana de Química uses a double-blind review method. This modality consists of maintaining the anonymity of the authors and reviewers during the entire editorial process.

Guide for Reviewers

Thank you for accepting to evaluate the article. If after a preliminary reading of the article, you consider that for academic, ethical, or any other reasons you are not suitable to judge the quality of the work, please return it to the Revista Colombiana de Química.

Remember that this is a double-blind type review, so please avoid providing personal information in your evaluation (name, signature, e-mail, etc.). We ask you to make an anonymous, confidential, objective, critical, and argued evaluation of the article, trying to answer the following questions. Try to avoid yes/no answers, instead, we suggest you comment on each question. If, in addition to answering these questions, you consider it pertinent to comment on the original manuscript, please change your username to maintain your anonymity.

  1. Does the Abstract mention the purposes of the research, the relevant results, and the most important conclusions?
  2. Does the Introduction concisely describe the topic addressed, giving the current status of the topic and presenting the related objectives? Does the Introduction mention a specific problem in the area and the contribution the article makes to that problem?
  3. Are the experimental, theoretical, or computational methods and equipment sufficiently described or explained in the Materials and Methods section? Could the experiments be replicated based on the expose methodology?
  4. Respecting the intellectual independence of the authors, do you consider that the analysis of the results is correct and clearly presented?
  5. Are the Conclusions related to the proposed objectives and supported by the results?
  6. Is the article innovative, interesting and does it contribute to knowledge enough to be published in the Revista Colombiana de Química?
  7. Is the style and writing of the article in accordance with the quality of a scientific article?
  8. Do the tables and figures in the document present relevant information for the research in an orderly and clear manner, and do they have a good visual quality?
  9. Are the references appropriate for the focus of the paper, and are any key or important documents excluded that the authors should have considered?
  10. Please select a Recommendation based on your review: i) Accept submission, ii) Accept only if suggested changes are made, iii) Resubmit a new version of the article for further review, and iv) Decline submission.
