This essay (re)situates author and artist, Jose Alejandro
Restrepo, in the sphere of Latin American critical
thought, linking his work to specific pieces of literature,
essay, and art. It demonstrates how his work belongs
to the postcolonial thought, understood as a system of
“liberation from within,” which attempts to construct
a new regimen of subjectivity. This allows for a rethinking,
not only of historical processes, but also of new
“signifiers” and systems of memory construction in late
modernity.
