About the Journal

Ensayos: Historia y Teoría del Arte is a biannual, open-access (no article processing charges) digital journal that undergoes double-blind peer review. It is published by the Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas (IIE) of the Faculty of Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, based in Bogotá, and its first issue was published in 1995. The journal’s primary objective is to disseminate and to promote original research that contributes to a critical and multidimensional understanding of the history and theory of the arts and related disciplines in diverse cultural contexts. Although the journal does not limit its content to a specific geographic focus, it places special emphasis on studies of Colombian and Latin American art and their dialogues with global art. Published twice a year, the journal is aimed at researchers, academics, students, and professionals in the field, as well as any reader interested in the research areas it covers. Furthermore, Ensayos: Historia y Teoría del Arte is distinguished by its commitment to open access, which allows its content to reach a wide audience, promoting the exchange of ideas and international collaboration.
