The object of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department’s computational mechanics of solids section is to offer industry solutions to problems requiring deeper knowledge regarding the mechanics of solids and how they can be numerically modelled. This article summarizes the foundations of plastic deformation, together with the results obtained during the experimental phase and from modelling two applications of plastic deformation processes being studied as part of mechanical engineering students’ undergraduate projects.
La línea de profundización en mecánica computacional de sólidos del Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica y Mecatrónica tiene como objetivo ofrecer a la industria soluciones a problemas que requieran del conocimiento profundo de la mecánica de sólidos y de su modelamiento numérico. El articulo presenta de una manera resumida los fundamentos del modelamiento del fenómeno de deformación plástica, junto con los resultados obtenidos en la fase experimental y de modelamiento de dos aplicaciones de procesos de deformación plástica, estudiadas a través de proyectos de grado de estudiantes de ingeniería mecánica.
