Se destacan algunos parámetros que revelan el nivel y la potencialidad del arte tecnológico en la Industria Metalmecánica Colombiana. En primer término, la capacidad de innovación es valorada por el soporte de la Ingeniería de Diseño y el nivel de participación de los Ingenieros en el proceso productivo metalmetálico. Por otro lado, descubrir la actual composición y las tendencias de los procesos tecnológicos en la metalmecánica colombiana de transformación, tiene particular significación en la prospectiva de asimilación y desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías. Finalmente, en el artículo se presenta una apretada síntesis de los aspectos económicos que constituyen el contexto desfavorable por el cual ha debido transitar nuestra Industria nacional en las últimas dos (2) décadas.
