This article summarizes a Manufacturing Materials and Processes MSc thesis written for the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department. The paper shows the interaction of process, gap (deposition distance) and extrusion terminal velocity modelled process parameters for CEIF’s (Centro de Equipos Interfacultades) rapid prototype molten material deposit (MMD) Titan SH-1 machine by analyzing prototypes improved surface quality and resistance to tension and characterizing material. The project applies experimental design criteria for orientating the selection of experimental process parameters. Acrylonitrile-butadin-styrene (ABS) had already been mechanically and physicochemically characterized (i.e. the material used in the MMD process).
Este artículo es una síntesis de la tesis de maestría en el Posgrado de Materiales y Procesos de Manufactura, del Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica y Mecatrónica. El paper muestra la interacción de los parámetros del proceso, distancia de la deposición (Gap) y la velocidad del cabezal de extrusión, para la maquina Titán SH-1 de prototipado rápido, proceso de modelado por deposición fundida de material (FDM), del CEIF (Centro de Equipos Interfacultades), a través del análisis del mejoramiento en la calidad de la superficie y la resistencia a la tensión de los prototipos y la caracterización del material. El proyecto aplica criterios del diseño experimental para orientar la selección de los parámetros experimentales del proceso. Previamente se realiza la caracterización mecánica y fisico-química del Acrilinitrilo-Butadieno-Estireno (ABS) material utilizado en el proceso FDM.
